The Air Conditioner Wet Wash Association (ACWWA) was formed in an attempt to self regulate the Split System (Ductless), Air Conditioner Wet Wash Industry. The industry has been around for well in excess of 10 years.
Their is now a Nationally Recognised Qualification at Cert II for this industry. That being said, no one has completed this qualification and it is not being delivered at any Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Some trades will try and tell you that they are qualified purely by the trade qualification they may hold in the refrigeration/HVAC industry. The fact again here is that there is no Wet Wash module in any refrigeration, air conditioning or HVAC Nationally Recognised Training courses.
ACWWA is a Not-For-Profit Organisation Public Company Limited by Guarantee.
At this stage, none of the States or Territories require any formal qualification to 'CLEAN' split system air conditioners (Ductless) unless you are 'servicing, connecting or disconnecting hard wired electrics or handling refrigerants'.
There are Franchises and organisations that allow their brand to be used under licence within Australia and there are also a huge number of independent operators.
There are significant differences in what they do and how they do it. There are businesses that deliver good quality training and some that provide what we call, fit-for purpose equipment.
There are not a lot around that do both! In order to achieve our mission (To improve the Indoor Air Quality for all Australians that utilise the most common form of Air Conditioner being, Ductless Split System Air Conditioners), we need to lift the standard of what this industry are doing.
